Meet Kanani. She is a single mother of four wonderful girls. We met Kanani years ago just after the house she was renting caught fire. We gave her a job and trained her on all of the tasks that she needed to perform. She has now worked almost all of the above listed projects. She specializes in landscaping and has a marvelous green thumb. Kanani now lives in a house with her daughters that The Lokani Project is trying to purchase. The house needs some work and we are ready to move forward. We just need some more resources first.
Kananiʻs story is not unique. There are many families struggling on the Big Island, especially in the Puna District which is the most economically depressed area in the state of Hawaii. With your help, we can changes the lives for many families, and dramatically increase the societal impacts for these families in Hawaii and for the world. One of Kananiʻs daughters wants to study engineering in college. While she might get there someday, her family is not in position to help with her goal. We would like to help as many families as possible so these kinds of goals can be realized.
